Almost 20% of all deaths in Trafford since mid-March have been linked to coronavirus, new data has revealed today.
The Office for National Statistics has updated its data to show the full impact of Covid-19 in the year up until April 10th.
The figures for Trafford show that, for all causes, there have been 630 deaths recorded in the borough so far this year. Of those, 38 were linked to coronavirus.
But since the start of week 12 – March 16th – when the outbreak has taken a grip, coronavirus has accounted for 37 of the 193 deaths in Trafford, or 19.2%.
Of the total number of coronavirus deaths in Trafford so far this year, 34 occurred in hospital and four in a care home.
Across England and Wales as a whole, the number of deaths in England and Wales were double the expected amount.
For the week up to April 10th, the 18,500 deaths were about 8,000 more than is normal at this time of year.
