The number of coronavirus cases in Trafford has halved in the week since tighter lockdown restrictions were introduced in Greater Manchester.
The latest data records that just 46 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the borough for the week ending August 6th, a fall of 46 from the week ending July 30th.
Eleanor Roaf, Trafford’s Director of Public Health, said that while the reduction was “great news”, people still needed to be vigilant.
“In the week ending July 30 Trafford had recorded one of the highest rates of increase of infection in the UK,” she said.
“The rate in the borough remains much higher than in early July with confirmed cases in every ward. Furthermore, rates across Greater Manchester have increased in some places and the risk remains very real.”
Anyone requiring a test can get one at permanent sites at Manchester Airport and the Etihad Stadium, and ther are also mobile testing units at Trafford House car park in Stretford (today and tomorrow) and Sale Water Park Metrolink car park (Wednesday August 12th to Friday August 14th).
