New festive lighting set to make Timperley look a lot more like Christmas this year

It’s beginning to look like Christmas may make more of an impression on Timperley this year.

It’s beginning to look like Christmas may make more of an impression on Timperley this year.

A new three-year plan has been put together by residents and councillors to improve festive lighting in the village, with warm white icicle lights hanging from key buildings at the main crossroads.

Funds have been raised from Trafford Locality Partnership grants, local businesses and retailers who have all come forward to support the project.

Businesses that have supported the project so far include Garden & Grain, Independent Vehicles, Village Osteopath, City Branch and Forward Property Group, which owns Paul House.

How it’s hoped Timperley village could look with the new festive lighting

Conservative candidate Tom Carey said: “Timperley Village has a wonderful loyal community, and people want to shop locally, especially at Christmas. We want to add to people’s enjoyment by decorating the buildings with celebratory lights.”

Local resident, Julie Lester, added: “This is just Year One of our plan and we hope to extend the lights to additional buildings and include more festive additions such as a Christmas Tree in later years.

“We hope local people will come forward with suggestions and, of course, funds to support our work. In Year 2 we hope to raise additional money through crowdfunding.”

The lights will be switched on in time for the village’s traditional carol sing-along on Friday 1st December.

There will also be a Festive Treasure Trail competition throughout the season.
