Altrincham has won a prestigious Gold award in the Large Town category at the RHS Britain in Bloom awards, the UK’s largest community gardening competition.
It's the first time that Altrincham has won Gold in this category.
Earlier this year, Altrincham was selected to represent the North West as the region's Best Large Town at this year’s RHS Britain In Bloom UK finals.
Judges visited the town in August, with numerous volunteers helping to make the town as presentable as possible for inspection day.
And today, at a ceremony held at Old Trafford in Manchester, Altrincham was awarded Gold in a category that also featured Colwyn, Cramlington, Haywards Heath, St Ives and Yeovil.
Sarah Walmsley, who has coordinated Altrincham's bid as chair of Altrincham in Bloom, also received a Community Champion award.
The full results will be revealed on BBC One's The One Show at 7pm this evening.
Sarah told us: "This means everything to us, it's national recohnition of the high quality of the work that we do.
"It's also testament to the support we get from the community, whether that be by people stopping and appreciating the flowers, or donations from residents or businesses.
"It's also thanks to the amazing sponsors who make a substantial contribution to how we are able to fund the projects we create and maintain."
Altrincham in Bloom's next project will involve creating a living Welcome to Altrincham sign at the gateway to the town centre on Stamford New Road. They're looking for sponsors who may be able to contribute £12,000 to fund the project.
