Over 100 wines to try and buy as Fizz Festival returns to Altrincham

The Fizz Festival is to return to Altrincham for a third successive year.

The Fizz Festival is to return to Altrincham for a third successive year.

The festival – and its accompanying People’s Choice Awards – will take place at Altrincham Town Hall over the weekend of Saturday November 18th and Sunday November 19th.

Over 100 wines will be available to try and buy, from Cava and Prosecco through to award-winning English sparkling wine and Champagne.

This year the festival organisers have attracted some brand new suppliers, including Wines of Brazil, a brand new premium ‘naturally blue’ Gran Reserva cava called Skyfall, Champagne Brimoncourt – the youngest and arguably the most stylish Champagne house around – and award-winning East Sussex winery Fox & Fox.

There’ll also be a return for last year’s award-winners – Champagne Thienot, Hush Heath and Red Squirrel.

Last year’s award-winners Zoe Dearsley from Hush Heath, and Nik Darlington from Red Squirrel and Andrew Nicholl from Champagnes & Chateaux

Visitors will have the chance to vote for Best Champagne, Best Sparkling Wine – UK and Best Sparkling Wine – Rest of World at the festival.

There will be a selection of local Altrincham-based musicians performing at the event, as well as food and masterclasses.

Tickets are normally £25, with a reduced rate of £17.50 on the later Sunday session. Early bird deals will be available from the end of August for a limited period.

Organiser Janet Harrison said: “The festival has a thoroughly modern feel with no snobbery and a fun and informal atmosphere. It really does attract those who want to know more about their favourite sparklers and what better way to do that and stock up for Christmas at the same time? Form an orderly queue!”

The Fizz Festival returns in November and will again be held at Altrincham Town Hall
