Altrincham will play host to 50 life-sized corgi sculptures as part of a special art event forming part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The ‘Trooping the Corgis’ event, produced by Altrincham BID in collaboration with Inch Arts, will see the corgis displayed in shops and businesses around the town throughout June.

The corgi sculptures will then be auctioned to support public arts projects in the community through Inch Arts, the arts charity set up in the town 12 years ago to promote and support positive mental health and wellbeing through creativity.

Mandy White, Altrincham’s BID Manager, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Inch Arts on this project. This is a unique opportunity for Altrincham and there has already been a lot of interest from the business community who are keen to get involved with this ambitious project.”

Jo Cushing, CEO of Inch Arts, added: “Altrincham Corgis will be creatively designed and decorated by 25 specially selected inspirational artists.

“A further 25 will be decorated by Altrincham’s valuable community groups and wonderful local schools, working alongside an artist, to inspire creativity and inclusivity in our amazing town.”

Inch Arts will shortly be coordinating an Open Call, inviting artists to submit their designs.
