Evuna
The fourth outlet of this authentic tapas restaurant, Evuna has proved a big hit since opening on Stamford New Road in February 2019.
Why we love it: Evuna has secured permission to set up a ‘Spanish Garden’ covered area on the pavement outside, providing a great vantage point for people-watching while enjoying some proper Spanish grub.
What we’re having: Pan seared seabass fillet with chilli garlic and fresh salad; for dessert Spanish cheesecake with red berries. Don’t miss the exclusive range of Spanish wines, with recommendations including Naveran Brut cava, Ondas del Alma Godello white wine that’s ideal with fish, and Gaintus One Night’s Blush, a delicate and elegant rosé.

Altrincham Market
Dating back to the 13th century, Altrincham’s market is enjoying a stunning renaissance with the market hall – Market House – and the covered market simply bursting with wonderful independent traders.
Why we love it: There’s nothing like the buzz of a full Market House, with its outdoor area on Shaw’s Road and Greenwood Street. Life-affirming and the town’s nucleus.
What we’re having: Pizza from Honest Crust or a pie from the Great North Pie Co – and a chilled glass of mystery white wine from Reserve Wines.

House
A charming, low lit restaurant and wine bar offering live music and fine dining in Goose Green.
Why we love it: A great sun-trap that’s just a short walk from the heart of Altrincham but feels much further away.
What we’re having: For a main we’re having meatball ragu with a Caesar salad on the side. For a refreshing drink, a bottle of Brooklyn lager.

Tre Ciccio
Easy to miss this tardis-like restaurant on Moss Lane – but take a trip and you’ll thank us for it.
Why we love it: Once you’re through the unassuming shop front, steps lead you down into an cosy dining area and then on to a terrace with a magnificent reclining roof. A fabulous spot to while away a sunny afternoon.
What we’re having: It’s always hard to look past Tre Ciccio’s pollo arrosto e patate – Italian-style chicken and potatoes. For dessert, go for that Italian classic, Tiramisu, with perhaps a Negroni cocktail.

The Con Club
Located on the (mostly) pedestrianised Greenwood Street, The Con Club has been a fabulous addition to Altrincham since taking over and completely revamping the old working men’s club.
Why we love it: There are few more fashionable places to be seen on a sunny day than the Con Club’s outdoor seating area, which quickly fills up as soon as the temperature gets above about 10 degrees. Another sun-trap option is the first-floor terrace.
What we’re having: For main, we’re having seared goosnargh duck breast followed by a warm Bakewell tart. For a drink, a bottle of refreshing Alska cider.

Icon
Icon bar opened on the site of the former Old Mill Hotel in May 2019 after a five-month refurb.
Why we love it: The inviting outdoor terrace provides a great view down Stamford New Road, the perfect place for a post-work pint.
What we’re having: Icon is a nice spot for lunch and it’s hard to look past the classic fish and chips.

One Central
Shipping containers meet street food in the heart of Altrincham.
Why we love it: A life-saver during lockdown, One Central has turned an awkward part of Alty into one of its must-see destinations. A variety of food options await, including Bad Boy Vegan, Tatton Perk and The Biscuit Tin.
What we’re having: A grilled cheese toastie from Melt Alty and a blueberry nata from The Biscuit Tin.

Riva
This modern British and Mediterranean restaurant in Hale offers an imagination selection of small plates and a classic ‘from the grill’ line-up of steaks, chicken, lamb and halloumi.
Why we love it: Elegantly fenced off with blooming flower beds, Riva is a lovely spot to watch the world (or specifically Hale) go by.
What we’re having: For main, we’re having pheasant breast with a side of roast potatoes, followed by cinnamon French toast with Sabayon.

Porta
Porta’s ethos is as relaxed and informal as its bookings policy (none taken). So drop in and try their tasty small plates inspired by authentic wine and tapas bars.
Why we love it: Sit outside here and you feel absolutely at the heart of Alty, with the steps to Market House just a few yards away. Very easy to lose track of time here.
What we’re having: King prawns a la plancha, pastel de nata and something cold on tap.

Cibo
A suave Italian restaurant with a big city feel, the third in the Cibo stable serves handmade pasta, pizzas, seafood and meat dishes in the space formerly occupied by Carluccio’s.
Why we love it: The outdoor seating area spans across the entirety of one side of the restaurant and gives you the chance to fully realise your penchant for Continental cafe culture in Hale.
What we’re having: Ravioli burrata with a classic panna cotta for dessert, washed down with a glass of Montepulciano D’Abruzzo.
