Starbucks’ brand new coffee shop in the Stamford Quarter’s Foundation building will officially open this Friday, 19th April (UPDATE: this has now been postponed - new date to be confirmed shortly).
The global coffee brand is the first confirmed food and beverage tenant in the £13.7million development, which has just been completed on the site of the former Rackhams department store.
Starbucks will be giving away 50 free goody bags to the first people through the door on opening day, and there will also be discounted drink vouchers handed out across the town this weekend.
The new 1,708 sq ft cafe is located on the ground floor of Foundation and there's seating space for 40 inside. There'll be an al fresco area overlooking Stamford Square once the current redevelopment is completed this summer.
The new store features a colour palette of neutral tones and shades of green, as well as a mixture of wood and brass materials throughout.
Eleven new jobs have been created for the new opening, with Starbucks teaming up with homelessness charity Only a Pavement Away to recruit local candidates.
James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at Bruntwood, said: “It’s great to see brands like Starbucks invest in our vision for the town centre.
"The interior design fits perfectly with the new building and it makes for a great arrival experience. We look forward to announcing more news of the hospitality brands set to join Foundation soon.”
A spokesperson for Trafford Council, co-owners of the Stamford Quarter, said: “We are delighted that yet another retailer is opening up in the Foundation building in Altrincham.
"Trafford Council has been working closely with Bruntwood to transform the building and is totally committed to improving and updating town centres across the borough.”
