Job description

We are seeking a proactive, skilled and enthusiastic Design and Technology Technician to join our Design and Technology Department and support the delivery of high-quality DT education. You will play a key role in preparing materials and resources, maintaining equipment, and supporting staff and students across a range of design disciplines including Product Design, Electronics and Computer Aided Design.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, maintain, and manage tools, equipment, and materials for practical DT lessons.
• Provide technical support to teachers and students during lessons and project work.
• Ensure all DT classrooms, workshops, and tools meet health and safety standards.
• Assist in the design and production of teaching resources and displays.
• Support the use of specialist equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines.
• Maintain inventory and manage ordering of stock and materials.
• Contribute to the development of new projects and practical resources.

Person Specification:
• A background in Design and Technology, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Practical skills in working with a variety of materials.
• Familiarity with CAD software and workshop machinery is highly desirable.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to health and safety and willingness to undertake relevant training.

Desirable:
• Experience working in an educational environment.
• First aid and health & safety training (e.g., COSHH, risk assessment).
