Altrincham Today is pioneering a new form of community journalism, one that’s sustainable and fit for the 21st century. While we’ll be maintaining a constant stream of engaging content on the site, we also want to build a team of correspondents, writers, reporters and critics who can reflect life in our town in 2014.
To write for Altrincham Today, you need a passion for a particular aspect of Altrincham life, whether general or niche. Your role could include everything from writing to providing tip-offs about stories.
Over the next six weeks we’ll be looking to assemble a team of correspondents to supplement our existing editorial team.
We’re looking for the following:
Local Politics Correspondent
With a passion for or a direct interest in the local political scene, you’ll make sure Altrincham Today readers are kept up to date with important political matters, from elections to council meetings.
Local Events Correspondent
We want Altrincham Today to be the first port of call for anyone looking for events in Altrincham. You’ll hand-pick local events that matters to readers of Altrincham Today, manually adding them to the website itself.
Local Sports Correspondent
A local sports nut, you’ll keep readers up to date with all aspects of the town’s sporting life.
Arts Correspondents
From theatre at the Garrick to jazz at the Cinnamon Club, you’ll have a passion for the local arts scene and an interest in providing objective commentary and criticism to Altrincham Today readers.
To talk more about the opportunities or express an interest, contact the editor at david@altrincham.today. All positions are unpaid, but will give you a role from the start in what we hope will very soon become the number one destination for Altrincham news. Aside from the opportunity of a platform to write about local issues and places you are passionate about, you’ll have the influence to actually have an impact and even make a difference.
