Costa Coffee to create up to 10 jobs when it opens Timperley store in early February

Costa Coffee has confirmed it will open its new store in Timperley in early February.

Costa Coffee has confirmed it will open its new store in Timperley in early February.

The coffee chain has finally signed a lease on the 588 sq ft Paul House unit after lease and planning negotiations went on for several months.

Work will start on fitting out the store in early January.

Costa says the new store will create “8 to 10” jobs, with the recruitment process likely to take place throughout December and January.

In a statement released to Altrincham Today, a Costa spokesperson confirmed: “Costa, the nation’s favourite coffee shop brand are pleased to announce that we are opening a brand new store on High Street, Timperley in early-February 2015, bringing 8-10 new jobs to the local area.

“As with all of our new store openings we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”

It’s understood that Costa’s arrival in the village was in the balance right up until earlier this month, despite provisional terms having been agreed between the Whitbread-owned company and the site’s agents, Tushingham Moore, many months ago.

Costa had originally hoped to open in time for Christmas and indeed promotional posters on the new site’s windows continue to advertise a December opening.

The location gives Costa a prime spot at the heart of the village, overlooking the Frank Sidebottom statue. Its arrival will mean the village has a third coffee shop after independents Sausalito and the recently opened Garden and Grain.

There are already three Costa Coffee outlets in Altrincham – two in the town centre, and one in Hale.

Costa already has over 1,750 outlets in the UK and in April announced plans to add another 150 this year as it moves towards a target of 2,200 by 2018.

Globally, the Whitbread-owned brand sold 400 million drinks last year and increased sales by 16.5% to over £800m.
