Here’s another glimpse into the way the £6m public realm project will change the way Altrincham looks.
Our exclusive images show how Railway Street at the junction with Lloyd Street and The Downs will be drastically altered by the introduction of a roundabout instead of the current traffic light system, as well as wider, tree-lined streets, new street paving and more sitting areas.
And Goose Green will also see the introduction of more trees, new paving and new sitting areas.
Residents today had the first opportunity to view the images and discuss the plans with consultation boards and members of the design team from consultants Planit-IE.
There are two more opportunities this week – tomorrow, Tuesday January 27th, between 1pm and 7pm in Room 4 of the Ground Floor of Altrincham Town Hall – and on Friday, January 30th, between 12pm and 5.30pm in Room 2 on the Ground Floor.
The improvements aim to “transform vehicle-dominated streets into pedestrian-friendly environments”, and the first phase is set to begin in March.
The transformation of the Railway Street junction would be part of phase two, which would take place in 2016. The changes to Goose Green will happen in phase one this year.
