A big-name retailer is being sought for Altrincham Retail Park after Asda confirmed its intention to close its Living store.

The 39,543 sq ft, two-floor store is expected to be vacant from around September, when Asda opens its brand new super store on the Lyon Industrial Estate in Broadheath.

It says that all staff will be offered the opportunity to move to the new store.

An Asda spokesman said: “We will be opening our new Asda superstore in Altrincham later this year and will offer over 40,000 sq ft of grocery, clothing and general merchandise products to the local community.

“With such a great range on offer in our new store, it makes sense for us to close the existing Living store and offer all our existing colleagues the opportunity to transfer over to the new store”.

BNP Paribas is marketing the unit at a rent of £400,000 per annum, and says it presents “a first class opportunity to acquire modern two-storey open A1 non-food retail premises in a quality location”.

It adds that the retail park attracts 4.9m visitors a year – over 38,000 cars a week – with a total of 977,822 people living with a 20-minute drive.
