Police Constable Paul Hailwood, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are still piecing together the facts of the collision that caused Helena’s tragic death, and are making progress.

“Our investigation has revealed that this Mercedes was in the immediate area moments before the collision and in all likelihood the driver may have seen Helena before she was hit by the Astra.

“I would like to ask the driver of that Mercedes to contact me about what they may or may not have seen, as they could hold information that will assist my investigation and ultimately help Helena’s family understand exactly what happened.

“Similarly, I would like to once again ask for anyone else who may have been driving in the area around the time of the collision to call us.”

Anyone with information should call GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
