Edit & Oak celebrates first birthday with special customer offer

Boutique independent Edit & Oak will celebrate its first birthday this weekend – and is offering readers of Altrincham Today a special 15% discount.

Boutique independent Edit & Oak will celebrate its first birthday this weekend – and is offering readers of Altrincham Today a special 15% discount.

The Greenwood Street shop has built up a loyal following over the past 12 months for its mix of on-trend and eclectic homeware, fashion accessories and gifts.

And to mark the occasion, visitors to the shop this Saturday and Sunday will benefit from a 15% discount on any item if they mention Altrincham Today.

The vision of owner Kate Harman, Edit & Oak’s eye-catchingly grey exterior is a world away from the dilapidated cheque-cashing service that used to occupy 4 Greenwood Street.

“We wanted to create a store that is authentic,” said Kate. “We used a real wood floor and furniture pieces instead of traditional shop fittings to create an environment that not only showcased the product but also to make it easier for the customer to see the product in their homes and lives.”

Kate moved north from Kent to set up the shop, and has used the experience gained from a background in the buying departments of various high street retailers to curate a highly individual store.

“Edit & Oak is an edit of brands that we love and feel offer something different to the multiple retailers,” she said. “There are also a number of one of a kind pieces, whether they be vintage, handmade or a unique find.

“We curate collections based on current homeware and fashion trends. Currently in store we have our new story ‘Shades of Grey’, which celebrates the colour of the moment. This modern neutral comes in many shades and when layered together in various forms and textures creates a fresh and sophisticated look.”

But why come to Altrincham?

“We were aware of the investment and changes that were happening in the town and felt it would be a good fit for the concept,” Kate added.

“Altrincham is continuing to carve out a brand for itself as an independent market town, with some great new independent shops, restaurants and bars that are reinforcing the impression that Altrincham is a unique town to visit and live.”
