An elderly man had a “large amount of life savings” stolen by three fraudsters operating in the Altrincham area.
The bogus workmen, who are thought to be using a distinctive white transit van with roof rack and orange stripes along the top and bottom of the vehicle, offered to jet-wash the vulnerable man’s drive.
A GMP spokesman described the men as white with Irish accents, and the vehicle was spotted in the Altrincham area between Friday 13th and Monday 16th January.
Last week, our sister site Sale Today reported on bogus callers in the Glenthorn Grove area of Sale.
On that occasion, there were three men operating outside the van, with two men in the cab.
The spokesman added: “Please remain vigilant and if you have any information regarding the vehicle or occupants, please contact Altrincham Police on 0161 856 7530 for attention of PC Collier 13775.
“Please be wary and warn your neighbours. Never do business with door to door salesmen/workmen. If you have any information please report to 101.”
