Loreto Preparatory School’s super fit young athletes have won both the under-9 and under-12 North-West Independent School’s Association Athletics Championships.

Loreto Preparatory School’s super fit young athletes have won both the under-9 and under-12 North-West Independent School’s Association Athletics Championships.

The icing on the cake was a tug of war win when the girls took on all comers leaving a number of mixed and boys teams in their wake.

The Loreto girls beat 10 other top schools at both age levels, finishing in sixth spot from 16 schools across the region.

Loreto Preparatory School’s Head of PE, Jan Brett, said: “The girls are a joy to coach; talented, determined and always competing with smiles on the faces.”

Star performers at the gala event at Manchester City’s Sport City complex (pictured in sprint pose at the front from left to right): Amelia Walker-Prosser who won the shot put; Anjali Ryan from the under-10 relay team, Ella Gillespie who won both the under-12 high jump and long jump; Aisling McHale who won the under-12 600 metres and now goes to the National Championships looking for her third successive gold medal; Verity Charnley in the 600m; KateTaylor who won the under-11 long jump and Olivia Ikang from the under-12 relay team.
