A new casual dining restaurant where almost everything will be served on toast will open in Altrincham on Friday.
TOAST will open in the former Barclays Bank on Stamford New Road with a discretionary payment day between 10am and 4pm, with all proceeds donated to the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.
It’s the brainchild of owner Justin Orange – twin brother of Take That’s Jason – with inspiration for the new concept eating experience coming from his travels to New York.
The menu has been conceptualised by Head Chef Edward Carr (Aumbry, The Fat Duck and Eleven Madison Park in NYC).
Orange said: “Who doesn’t love TOAST? It’s been eighteen months in the making, but it’s been well worth the wait. It’s a beautiful building. We’ve planned everything in detail, so all you have to do is turn up, relax and enjoy.”
Bread freshly baked by Levenshulme-based family bakery, Trove (five different varieties, plus a gluten-free option), complement dishes that are made with ingredients from other local producers, priced from £5 to £9.50.
TOAST’s dishes include: Eggs Benedict, Royale, Florentine, and eggs your way; white crab, with lime juice, rocket and coriander; prawns rolled in sesame seeds, with sweet chilli jam; truffled cheese on toast, with baked egg and truffle oil; egg and chorizo, with chorizo spread and paprika jam; baked vanilla peaches, with Chantilly cream and mascarpone; and marinated strawberries with whipped rosewater ricotta. There’s also a Young Toasties menu, priced from £3, where every dish comes with a 25p donation to local charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.
Drinks on offer will include smoothies, made with adventurous ingredients like Maca, dandelion shoots, and sunflower shoots, to carefully selected wines (£17.95 per bottle), Prosecco (£19.95), and craft beers and cider (£4.50).
Coffee is supplied by local roaster Heart and Graft, and from Sale Sharks rugby player, David Seymour, who has provided a special roast from his new coffee company, Couch Grind Coffee.
The 56-cover restaurant has two distinct areas. The Garden Room entrance features numerous glass partitions to let the light in, as well as flora, characterful lighting and fabrics.
The main area of Toast features exposed original architectural details, copper accents and distinct seating sections, including booths, and a wonderfully designed feature dining table, all conceptualized by Orange and realized by Sarah De Freitas (De Freitas Design).
TOAST also has an al-fresco heated canopied section that can seat up to 16.
Opening hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
