Thirty-three roads in Altrincham are set to be improved over the next three months as part of a £4m improvement programme announced by Trafford Council.
The included roads – which cover Timperley, Broadheath, Bowdon, Hale and Altrincham itself – have been identified as a result of residents who report issues direct to the council, as well as what it calls a “rigorous and continuous highway monitoring programme”.
The names of the exact roads will be revealed in the coming days.
Trafford said that further improvements are planned from April onwards as part of its 2018/19 road investment programme.
The additional funding has been generated by a higher than anticipated take-up of the Council’s green waste collection service this year, plus increased income from its shares in Manchester Airport.
The council currently maintains 518 miles of road.
Council leader, Councillor Sean Anstee, said: “Investing in the infrastructure of our borough is vital to ensuring that Trafford continues to thrive and grow. We’ve listened to both our residents and our highways experts and fully appreciate how important it is to continue to invest in our roads to ensure one of our most important assets is maintained.
“We are delighted to be in a position where we can use additional funding from such successful initiatives to honour our commitment to ensuring our highways are in the best condition for the benefit of everyone and to ensure Trafford remains a place where people want to live and work.”
