A major Altrincham thoroughfare will be closed overnight for resurfacing works for two weeks from Monday.
Dunham Road (A56) will be closed from 7.30pm to 6.00am, from junction 7 of the M56 up to the junction with Charcoal Road and Park Road.
The road will function on a temporary road surface during the day, but advisory speed notices may be in place.
The works will be delivered by the One Trafford Partnership, a collaboration between Trafford Council and Amey.
Northbound traffic diversions will be in place along M56 to junction 6 at Hale, whilst non-motorway traffic will be diverted along Lymm Road, Burford Lane (B5159) and Woodhouse Lane (B5160). Southbound traffic along Dunham Road will be maintained throughout the duration of the scheme, one a single or contraflow lane system.
The full carriageway width of Dunham Road will be resurfaced, covering a total of 2,100m2.
The scheme is part of the current capital highways programme, which has seen a £7.7 million investment from Trafford Council. The programme is being delivered by the One Trafford Partnership until March 2019.
Executive Councillor for Environment, Air Quality and Climate Change, Cllr Stephen Adshead said: “Investing and protecting Trafford’s highway network is important to ensuring better and safer routes for residents, visitors and businesses.
“This particular 1.2 kilometre stretch of Dunham Road is a key link into Altrincham from the M56 and M6 network which sees many visitors from outside of the borough. We want to ensure that visitors are welcomed to Trafford in the best way possible and can see that we take care of our most valuable asset.”
“Although road works bring some level of disruption and inconvenience, measures have been taken to ensure the impact of the Dunham Road scheme is reduced for residents and motorists alike.”
The council said that the duration of the works were subject to weather conditions.
