Taxi marshals are returning to Altrincham this festive period to make getting home from a night out even that much safer.
The marshals, funded by the Safer Trafford Partnership, have been in operation in the run up to Christmas and New Year for the last nine years.
They will once again be present on the the main rank at Altrincham Interchange on some of the busiest nights of the festive period: Friday 21st December – Monday 24th December inclusive, and on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, from 10.30pm until 3.30am on each date.
They’ll also be present at Sale Metrolink and Sale Waterside Plaza ranks.
The marshals will aim to help ease traffic congestion by helping to reduce queue jumping, and keeping nuisance behaviour under control.
Councillor Kevin Procter, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Housing, said: “We’re pleased to be able to help provide the taxi marshals again this year. In previous years the scheme has been well received by licensees, the police, taxi drivers and people using the facility to get home safely.”
