Music shop Dawsons, a fixture of the Altrincham high street for over two decades, is closing down.
Staff were told on Tuesday that the store would be closing after 15 years on Stamford New Road, having been in a smaller unit opposite the Interchange for several years before that.
Three staff will be made redundant as a result.
A total of three stores will be closed by the Warrington-headquartered retailer, with its Warrington and Huddersfield shops also shutting. It now has just eight shops left.
A statement from the retailer said a physical presence in the town was “no longer viable”.
It read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of this store. We have tried to maintain a presence in the town for as long as we can but it is unfortunately no longer viable.
“We would like to say thank you to all of our customers and to wish you all the very best in your future musical endeavours.”
Dawsons is the latest high street name to close stores in the face of the growth of online shopping.
There’s no exact date for the closure of the Altrincham shop yet but a closing down sale is now underway.
