Trafford Housing Trust (THT) is looking to turn an area of vacant land in Timperley into a new social housing development.
THT has submitted an application to develop the land off Carrfield Avenue in Timperley into 20 one-bed and 10 two-bed apartments.
The land has lain dormant since two apartment blocks on the site were demolished in 2003, and THT bought the land with the intention of developing affordable housing in 2016.
There are currently 2,300 people waiting for a one-bedroom property in Trafford, and a report prepared as part of the application said the properties will “greatly assist customers on Trafford Council’s housing register”.
The site is currently vacant apart for an electricity sub-station, and some cable diversion will be necessary should the application be approved.
The three-storey development will also include parking and cycle storage for 30 bikes.
A community consultation event held in June, with feedback said to be “very positive”.
