Matillion, one of the North’s few ‘unicorn’ tech businesses, is to relocate from its Altrincham base.

The cloud data specialist, which has spent the last few years on the seventh floor of Station House on Stamford New Road having initially moved from Knutsford, is relocating its North West office to Two New Bailey in Salford.

It’s signed a 10-year lease on 27,000 sq ft of space on the sixth and seventh floors at the office development.

Matillion has enjoyed a stellar few years since being founded by former Altrincham Grammar pupil Matthew Scullion and Ed Thompson.

It has has 650 staff with a major presence in Denver in the United States, where more than 70% of Matillion’s customers are now based.

And it has a valuation of over $1.5bn – meeting it is classed as a tech ‘unicorn’ – after securing $150 million in Series E funding in a funding round led by global growth equity firm General Atlantic.
