Trafford Council has said it will continue removing unauthorised flags from lampposts after a new set of even larger union flags appeared on Altrincham's flyover just days after the originals were taken down.
The council removed the first batch of flags during the night of Thursday 27th November and Friday 28th November, following their initial installation on Saturday 8th November.
However, at around 11.30pm on Sunday 30th November, bigger flags were reattached to the lampposts over the flyover section.
The reappearance has proved a very divisive issue on Altrincham Today's Facebook page, with many comments both in favour and against the flags.
A spokesperson for Trafford Council said: "Trafford Council will continue to remove flags as part of our normal operations and that remains unchanged.
"We want residents to celebrate their national pride within the law and with their safety, and the safety of others, in mind."

The council had previously stated that attaching flags to public property such as lampposts is both illegal and unsafe, posing health and safety risks.
"We are proud to honour our Union Flag and the flag of St George, and we display both at our town hall as a symbol of our national heritage," the spokesperson said last month.
"We understand that some people in the community want to use flags to express their national pride but it is important to make sure this does not affect public safety."
