The site of The Irish Deli on Greenwood Street is reopening tomorrow as two distinct food and drink concepts under one roof - a croissant and coffee bar called Flakey and a pizza, beer and cocktail bar called Paddy's.
The two concepts have distinct ownership. Paddy's is a joint venture between Dan Mullen and John Kennedy, who owns Kennedy's Bar next door. Flakey is owned by Dan's partner Georgia Copp-Barton, who has already built a following with the brand since opening its first site at Ancoats General Store in December 2025.
Both brands launch on Thursday 30th July, with Flakey operating from early morning and Paddy's taking over in the afternoon and evening.
Flakey's menu features sweet and savoury loaded croissants including the Buff Italian with veg caponata, buffalo mozzarella pearls, pesto and crushed pistachios, the New Yorker stuffed with Emmental, Gruyère, pastrami, sauerkraut and Russian dressing, and the Sticky BC loaded with vanilla Basque cheesecake and Biscoff sauce.
On the drinks side, expect specialty coffee and matcha alongside more inventive creations like a Strawberry Shortcake Matcha and Banana Biscoff Latte.
Come the afternoon, the space transforms into Paddy's - named after a scruffy Irish terrier that belonged to the owner's grandmother - serving individually sized, handcrafted pan pizzas.
Toppings include Paddy's Pep with chilli and burrata, The Dubliner with Irish sausage, pickled red onion and rosemary, and The God Father with mortadella, burrata, pistachio pesto and pecorino.
From Thursdays onwards, Paddy's also operates as a full bar serving beers and cocktails until late.
Both concepts can be ordered via an in-house app with delivery direct to the tables at next-door Kennedy's Bar.
Dan Mullen and John Kennedy said: "We've designed it to evolve throughout the day - start with coffee and croissants, come back for pizza, and stay for a pint or a cocktail.
"It's one site, two distinct food experiences, and neither compromises the other. Two brands sharing one building with completely different moods, and we think Altrincham is going to love both."
To mark the opening, Paddy's is running a pizza hunt across Altrincham - 20 branded pizza-pan boxes hidden around town, each containing vouchers, T-shirts, drinks vouchers or a "pizza for life" keyring for the lucky few. Clues will be posted daily on Instagram, with finders sharing their find under #PaddysPizzaHunt to claim a free pizza on opening night.
During opening week (30th July to 2nd August), Paddy's is also offering 50% off all pizzas for Kennedy's customers between 3pm and 5pm.
