"True gentleman" who was familiar face on Altrincham night-time scene dies aged 92

Vito Triggiani worked at The Green Room into his 90s.

A "true gentleman" who was a well-known figure on the Altrincham nightlife scene into his 90s has died at the age of 92.

Vito Triggiani was a familiar sight at The Green Room in Goose Green, collecting glasses every weekend since 2013.

Originally from Bari in Italy, Vito was born in 1932 and was a skilled coppersmith by trade. He moved to moved to Blackpool in the 1980s where he built a life for himself and his family.

He died of cancer in St Ann's Hospice in Cheadle with his son at his side.

Speaking on behalf of The Green Room, co-owner Anthony Prophet said: "We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Vito Triggiani, a much-loved figure in the Altrincham community and a long-standing presence at The Green Room.

"Vito passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and friendship that will be dearly missed. Born in Bari, Italy, in 1932, Vito moved to Blackpool in the 1980s, where he built a life for himself and his family.

"A skilled coppersmith by trade, his craftsmanship and work ethic were second to none. But it was his time in Goose Green that cemented his place in the hearts of many.

"Since 2013, every weekend without fail, Vito was a familiar sight at The Green Room, collecting glasses with his signature charm and ever-present smile.

"Beyond his work, Vito was a devoted father and a true gentleman - kind, fun-loving, and always ready to share a story or a joke.

"His colleagues and friends, past and present, speak so fondly of him, and his presence made every night at The Green Room that little bit more special.

"Vito’s passing leaves a huge void in our community, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those who had the privilege to know him."
