The body of a former Altrincham FC footballer has been found four days after he went missing.
James Dean, 35, was last seen in the Orchard Drive area of Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire around midnight on Wednesday.
Sadly, following extensive police enquiries, a body was yesterday found in the Moscow Mill Street area at around 2.25pm.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
James joined the Robins on loan from Bury in 2007 and made three National League appearances.
He scored a spectacular 30-yard shot 35 minutes into his debut, against Salisbury City.
A statement from the club said: “Everyone at Altrincham Football Club is very sad to hear this news and offer sincerest condolences to James’ family and friends.”
James also played for Chorley, Bury, Harrogate Town, Stalybridge Celtic, Ashton United, Hyde and Halifax Town.
