The body of a woman has been found in the Bridgewater Canal in Altrincham this morning.
Police were called around 6am this morning to a report of a body in a canal near Oldfield Road.
A police cordon has now been set up at the scene, with Seamon’s Road closed off in both directions at the Seamon’s Moss Bridge.
A statement released by Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensic investigators have now arrived at the scene.
