A male motorcyclist is in hospital with what is described as a “severe” head injury after a collision with a car on Clay Lane in Timperley this morning.
The rider, who is in his 20s, was injured in the incident earlier this morning with Clay Lane subsequently closed in both directions between Dobbinetts Lane and Wellfield Lane.
An air ambulance and numerous emergency vehicles attended the scene – which was close to Bowdon Rugby Club – and the man was taken to hospital by road.
A statement from North West Ambulance Service said: “We responded to an RTC involving a motorbike and car.
“The rider, a man in his 20s, has suffered a severe head injury and has been taken to hospital by road. An air ambulance also supported NWAS crews with treatment of the casualty at the scene.”
It’s the second serious incident on Clay Lane this year. In January, a 67-year-old man died after a collision involving three vehicles close to the Wellfield Lane junction.
Clay Lane has now been reopened in both directions.
