A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers during an incident in Timperley.
Police were called to reports of a “disturbance” at a property on Mainwood Road at around 12pm on Wednesday.
It’s reported that a bare-chested man was then seen walking towards a police car and throwing something at the vehicle, with sirens blaring in the background.
A chase then ensued after the man fled in a white van before being stopped on Simonsway in Wythenshawe.
A police officer was seen chasing the vehicle with a taser.
Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed that a 32-year-old was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, attempted section 18 assault and dangerous driving.
A spokesperson said: “Shortly before 12pm on yesterday (Wednesday 7 June), Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a disturbance at Mainwood Road, Timperley. It’s believed that a man attacked a police officer and a marked police car as well as a member of the public’s car, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
“Specialist trained police drivers engaged in a pursuit, and the vehicle was safely stopped on Simonsway, Wythenshawe. A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, attempted section 18 assault, and dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning.”
