A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was confirmed to have died after yesterday’s disturbance in Timperley.
Police have confirmed that a man in his 80s was taken to hospital after the incident at a semi-detached property on Riddings Road.
He was treated for his injuries but sadly died a short time later.
A man who was originally arrested on suspicion of assault has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
Emergency services raced to the scene after the disturbance at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.
Detective Inspector Lee Shaw, from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, said that a murder investigation had been launched.
He said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who has sadly died. Our Family Liaison Officers continue to liaise with them and ensure they are fully updated.
“We have launched an investigation to piece together the full circumstances surrounding his death.
“I have no doubt that the community are shocked and are worried to hear the news about the death of the man, but I would like to reassure them that this is an isolated incident and at this stage, we are not currently looking for anyone else.
