Timperley murder enquiry: Man detained under Mental Health Act

A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in Timperley on Sunday has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Police found a man in his 80s with critical injuries at a property on Riddings Road on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Riddings Road was cordoned off between Swan Road and Crofton Avenue

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.

In an update this morning, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the man had been detained under the Mental Health Act.
