One person injured after two-car crash in Altrincham

One person was injured after a two-car crash near to Altrincham town centre earlier.

Emergency services were called to Woodlands Road close to the junction with Barrington Road at around 11.30am this morning.

They found a collision between two cars, with one of the vehicles against a wall next to Altrincham Methodist Church.

Two fire engines attended the scene, with crews using specialist equipment to release one person from a vehicle.

Paramedics also helped at the scene, with Greater Manchester Police confirming that one person was injured in the incident.

Woodlands Road was closed westbound between Woodlands Parkway and Barrington Road while emergency services worked at the scene. The road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just after 11.30am today (Monday, September 2), fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Woodlands Road in Altrincham. Two fire engines from Sale and Stretford, with the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne quickly attended the incident which involved two vehicles.

“Crews used specialist equipment to extricate one person from a vehicle before being treated by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. Crews worked to make the area safe before departing after approximately 45 minutes at the scene.”
