Passenger, 40, run over in Hale Barns after trying to stop parked car from rolling downhill

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Police say a man in Hale Barns was run over yesterday after the car in which he had been a passenger suddenly started to roll down Shay Lane.

Officers are asking for witnesses after the incident at around 5.30pm yesterday.

The 40-year-old victim had been sat in the front nearside passenger seat of his car, which had been parked up and stationary on Shay Lane but on a slight incline.

Initial enquiries suggest that while he waited for his work colleague to return, the car began to roll down Shay Lane and, while making an attempt to prevent this, the man has become trapped underneath.

After being rescued by firefighters, the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting reference number of 2594 18/11/24.
