Seven fire engines called to blaze at Altrincham property

Seven fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to a blaze at a house in Altrincham last night.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that it spent a total of nine and a half hours at the property on Norman's Place, close to the town centre.

Crews were called at around 7.30pm last evening, Tuesday 7th January.

They used two hose reels and other specialist equipment including a thermal scanner, a honeywell gas detector and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.

They were able to leave the scene at around 5am this morning.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 7.30pm on Tuesday 7 January, seven fire engines from across Greater Manchester, the air unit, the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton fire station and the command unit from Rochdale fire station attended a house fire on Normans Place, Altrincham.

“Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly used two hose reels and other specialist equipment including a thermal scanner, a honeywell gas detector and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.

"Firefighters departed the scene after roughly nine and a half hours in attendance.”
