Firefighters rushed to tackle a blaze that broke out on a sixth-floor balcony at the Budenberg development in Altrincham this morning.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) received reports of the fire at the Woodfield Road residential development at 9:30am, prompting a major response from crews across the region.
Fire engines from Sale, Altrincham, Wythenshawe, Stretford, Salford, Withington and Eccles fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
Video from the scene shows a fire at an apartment on the canal side of the development.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "At 9:30am this morning, firefighters were called to reports of a building fire on Woodfield Road in Altrincham.
"Eight fire engines from Sale, Altrincham, Wythenshawe, Stretford, Salford, Withington and Eccles fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, where a fire had broken out on the balcony of the sixth floor of an apartment building.
"Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and carried out searches to the building to ensure all occupants were accounted for.
"Crews remain at the scene."
The Budenberg development, which opened in 2005, was created when Urban Splash converted the former Budenberg factory site into a modern residential complex.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
