The mother of a 12-year-old boy who was randomly attacked by a man armed with a weapon in Timperley says the whole experience has been "traumatic" for her son.
The boy was one of four 12-year-old friends who were walking on Stockport Road near Vale Road at around 6.30pm on Friday evening.
They had had no interaction with anybody when a white car, being driven erratically, pulled up and a man jumped out.
He then managed to grab one boy by the hood of his coat and stabbed him with some kind of weapon - possibly a long tool or flat-bed screwdriver - three times.
Pictures taken by his mother show three puncture wounds in the boy's side and back.
The attacker then got back in his car, did a u-turn and drove off in the direction of Shaftesbury Avenue.
The boy's mother told Altrincham Today: "It has been so traumatic for him and I still think he is in shock from the whole incident. They were all terrified. It has been very overwhelming for him."
She added: "The four of them were just minding their own business, walking along the pavement. This should not be happening at 6.30 on a Friday evening. We just need our kids to be safe."
The boy had treatment at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
She says her son and the other children have confirmed that the man, who acted alone, was Asian with a buzz-cut haircut.
Police have appealed for information and have asked anyone with CCTV or Dashcam footage to call them on 0161 856 3001 quoting log 2798 of 21/11/25.
