A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault following an attack that left a 12-year-old boy injured in Timperley last week.
A section 18 assault, under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, refers to wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The boy was one of four friends, all aged 12, who were walking along Stockport Road near Vale Road at around 6.30pm on Friday evening when a white car, reportedly being driven erratically, pulled up beside them.
A man is said to have jumped out of the vehicle and grabbed one of the boys by the hood of his coat before stabbing him three times with a weapon, thought to possibly be a long tool or flat-bed screwdriver.
The attacker then returned to his car, performed a u-turn and drove off in the direction of Shaftesbury Avenue.
The victim was taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for treatment to three puncture wounds to his side and back.
It's understood that police have already managed to secure CCTV footage of the incident.
