Tram services between Altrincham and Timperley have been suspended and several roads closed this morning following a police incident near Navigation Road tram stop.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the area due to concerns for a man's welfare.
It's understood a man climbed on to a railway gantry between Navigation Road and Altrincham stations, at one point hanging on overhead electrical cables before dropping to the ground.
The man has since been brought to safety, and officers say cordons will shortly be stood down.
At the height of the incident, Navigation Road, Wellington Road, Grosvenor Road and Prestbury Avenue were all partially closed as emergency services worked at the scene.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) suspended Metrolink services on the Altrincham line between Altrincham and Timperley while the police operation was ongoing. Metrolink tickets were accepted on the 11, 245 and 249 Bee Network bus services as an alternative for passengers.
TfGM said on its website that trams were unable to run "due to a police incident at Navigation Road".
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed to Altrincham Today that it was a "concern for welfare incident", with services expected to resume shortly.
