Hill & Hill The Jewellers is celebrating its fifth anniversary in Altrincham this summer.
The George Street shop, easily recognisable for the floral displays that cover its exterior, was opened in 2019 by husband and wife team Alex and Jo Hill.
Jo had worked in jewellery for over 25 years, owning six stores and working with some of the top jewellery brands in the UK.
Alex was a former BBC journalist and documentary maker, and the shop was the first time the couple had actually worked together.
But Hill & Hill The Jewellers has become a much-loved destination for locals and shoppers from further afield, attracted by what Jo calls a "completely new concept" store.
"We are immensely grateful to the people of Altrincham, and beyond, for really embracing what we do here”, she said.
"We wanted to bring to Altrincham a completely new concept jewellery store, reinventing the traditional jewellers, creating a truly unique and welcoming environment, that looks and feels totally luxurious. We call it relaxed luxury.”
One of the Hills' first employees, and the store manager, is Bethy Highton.
Described by Jo as a "jewellery genius", she has always placed great importance on the look of the store, which has as its centrepiece a vintage cabinet that for the previous century was used to display dinosaur bones at the Natural History Museum in London.
“Our store always looks beautiful," said Bethy. "We are constantly introducing new and exciting ideas and designers, and creating beautiful displays. We simply want people to share our love, passion and excitement for jewellery."
Aside from beautiful jewellery, Hill & Hill The Jewellers offer a full repairs service, wedding and engagement rings, mined and lab-grown diamonds, their own range of vintage jewellery, and a fully bespoke design service. They also offer a highly-rated piercing boutique.
“We are passionate about great service," added Jo. “All our staff are trained to the very highest standard, and while our lovely store looks different to any other jewellers, we are a fully working jewellers.”
