Mountain Warehouse confirms opening date for first Greater Manchester store in Altrincham

The outdoor retailer is opening in the former Debenhams unit.

Outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse has announced that it will open its new Altrincham store on Saturday 9th November.

The George Street opening, in the Stamford Quarter unit that has been vacant since Debenhams closed in 2020, will create 13 new jobs.

The 15,318 sq ft store will feature womenswear, menswear, kids wear, footwear and equipment spread over two floors.

Customers will also find the latest collections from coastal lifestyle brand Animal, including organic cotton tees, hoodies, skiwear and accessories.

James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at Stamford Quarter co-owner Bruntwood, said: “The new Mountain Warehouse store in the Stamford Quarter will be the brand’s first in Greater Manchester and is set to attract visitors from the local community and further afield.

"We want to extend a warm welcome to the team and are looking forward to the doors opening on 9th November.

"As we head into the winter months it’s the perfect place to stock up on seasonal clothing and is a great addition to our vibrant mix of independent and national retail and hospitality brands already located in the Stamford Quarter.”

Mark Neale, Mountain Warehouse founder and CEO, added: “We’re delighted to be opening our first store in Greater Manchester, and excited to share our passion for adventure and great value outdoor gear for all the family, even the dog!”

Councillor Liz Patel, Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration at Trafford Council, added: “I’m thrilled Mountain Warehouse, another high profile business, has chosen Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter as their new home.

"Mountain Warehouse joins the growing roster of businesses taking up residence in the Stamford Quarter, joining names like Lane 7, Starbucks and Nell’s Pizza."
