Selbourne Group extends long-standing support for Broadheath Central FC

The local business has now been financially supporting the club for over 25 years.

Selbourne Group has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots football in Altrincham by extending its long-standing partnership with Broadheath Central FC for another three years.

The local business, which has been supporting the club for over 25 years, has signed a new lease agreement that will continue their relationship until 2028, cementing one of the town's most enduring sports sponsorships.

As part of their ongoing support, Selbourne Group has sponsored the first team's kits for the current 2024/2025 season.

The partnership extends beyond kit sponsorship, however - for more than two decades, Selbourne Group, who own and manage The Arches on Viaduct Road, has provided two arches to the club at highly subsidised rates, which have become integral to Broadheath Central's operations.

Selbourne Group refurbished Broadheath Central's central hub free of charge

In addition to the significantly reduced rent of the two arches, Selbourne Group carried out all the refurbishments for BCFC free of charge to transform the space into changing rooms and a cafe with toilet facilities that now serve as the club’s central hub.

Gary Carr, Chairman of Broadheath Central FC, said that Selbourne Group’s support had begun in the late 1990s through its founder Robert de Massey, father of current Managing Director Michael de Massey.

“Their support extends from allowing us to use the arches through to kit sponsorship - they are just generally very, very supportive.

“We’re very grateful because their support for a grassroots club like Broadheath helps us to keep our costs down and make the game accessible to everyone. As a direct support of their help, we have children playing football who otherwise may not have been able to.”

Michael de Massey, Managing Director of Selbourne Group, added: "We're proud to continue our support for Broadheath Central FC. Over the past 25 years, we've seen the positive impact the club has on the local community, and we're delighted to extend our partnership for another three years."

Broadheath Central FC has been a fixture in the local football scene for over 100 years, providing opportunities for players of all ages from across the Altrincham area.

The new three-year agreement will allow the Club to continue using their facilities as they look to expand on their performance on the pitch and off it.

Established by Robert de Massey in 1998, Selbourne Group has deep roots in the Altrincham community.

Following Robert's untimely passing, his son Michael took over as Managing Director in 2006.

The group has built an impressive property portfolio in Altrincham over the past two decades.

Their flagship development is Trafalgar House, a 1970s office building just off Manchester Road that has recently undergone a comprehensive four-year, £3 million transformation.

Selbourne Group's other Altrincham properties include Mansion House and the Kids Planet nursery on Manchester Road, as well as The Arches and Quay House on Viaduct Road.
