Bowdon Hockey Club has achieved national recognition after being Highly Commended for England Hockey's prestigious 'Club of the Year 2025' award.
The accolade, announced at the England Hockey National Awards ceremony in Leicester on June 7th, marks an extraordinary year of success both on and off the pitch.
The club has maintained its Club Mark and Talent Centre accreditation for the third consecutive year and holds the unique distinction of being the only club in the North with Men's, Women's and Junior teams competing at the highest national level.
"We're thrilled with this recognition," said chairman Jonny Grant. "It's testament to the passion, dedication and teamwork shown by every one of our players, members and volunteers.

"We work very hard to achieve the highest performance while offering fun and accessible hockey to those of all ages across our local community."
Bowdon runs nine men’s teams and eight women’s teams plus junior teams at all age groups and for all levels.
Last season, both women’s and men’s first teams competed at the top level in the National Premier League, and numerous players represented national teams.
The Club of the Year shortlisting also recognised the vibrant community at the club with over 400 players of all ages and levels from four to 84 participating and supporting each other every week.
To develop grassroots hockey further across the North West, Bowdon has delivered online coach development and webinars, created tailored development programmes for Junior coaches and umpires and opened up non-member access by offering drop-in hockey ‘Just Play’ sessions for all ages.
Coaches work in local state schools to broaden opportunities to play and holiday sessions take place at the club for all abilities. Non-members and supporters are always welcome at matches or in the clubhouse.
