Altrincham's Lantern Parade has been postponed due to the forecast bad weather.
The parade, which has proved a huge success in recent years, had been set to take place in the town centre tomorrow.
However, with heavy rain and strong winds of over 40mph forecast, organisers have taken the decision to postpone the event, as well as the planned stage in Stamford Square.
Organisers Altrincham BID said it had taken the decision after "thorough discussions with our safety consultant and partners", and that going ahead with the event "would compromise the safety of everyone involved".
However, the BID is now looking at moving the parade and stage entertainment to next Saturday, 14th December, and combining it with next weekend’s Nativity Journey event.
The Lantern Workshops at OYEZ Arts will go ahead as planned tomorrow.
Altrincham BID said that further details about next Saturday's rearranged event will be released next week.
