Altrincham is to play host to a special weekend celebrating and commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2, also known as VJ Day.
St Margaret's Church on Dunham Road will host a nostalgic weekend celebration on August 9th and 10th to mark the anniversary of Victory in Japan Day.
The event will kick off at 12:30pm on Saturday 9th August with a full day of 1940s-themed entertainment.
The 17-piece Hootin Annies Big Band will provide authentic swing music alongside performers Krys Kiss and the Frog, while visitors can enjoy traditional fish and chips from the NAAFI tent, sample local brews from the Dunham Massey Beer tent, and indulge in proper tea and cake.
History enthusiasts will appreciate the display of authentic World War Two vehicles, while families can try their hand at ringing the church's famous bells - just as they rang out across Britain to celebrate victory 80 years ago.
Adding to the authenticity, 'Winston Churchill' himself will make an appearance at the event.
The Mayor of Trafford will officially open the celebration, welcoming all community members to join the commemorations.
Entry is £5 on the gate to cover costs, with free admission for children under 12 and cadets in uniform. Organisers are encouraging visitors to embrace the spirit of the day by wearing period clothing.

On Sunday 10th August, an 11am commemorative service at St Margaret's Church will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the war.
The service will feature musical performances by soprano Lisa Harrison, tenor Michael Taylor and the renowned Laurence Singers, accompanied by Terry Crolley MBE on organ.
Distinguished guests will include the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Manchester and the Mayor of Trafford.

Reverend Dave Murray, a former Royal Navy Commander, said: "This is a great opportunity for the community of Altrincham to come together on the Saturday to enjoy a bit of 1940s music, food and fun.
"We are honoured to have wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill join us and we'd be delighted to welcome anyone who wants to come in period clothing.
"We are holding a special service of commemoration on the Sunday to which all are welcome."
