Half term fun for young aviation fans at Manchester Airport

It's aimed at children aged 4-12.

Children across Altrincham will have the opportunity to experience life at Manchester Airport this February half term as the popular Flight Academy returns to the Runway Visitor Park.

The educational programme, which has been running during school holidays for more than a decade, is aimed at children aged 4-12 and teaches them about the various roles that keep the airport operating, from check-in agents to flight crew and airfield staff.

The 90-minute sessions will run daily from Monday 17th to Friday 21st February. Participants will get the chance to sit in the captain's chair on a retired DC10 airliner and experience what it might be like to fly a commercial aircraft, before heading outside to watch planes taking off and landing.

Sessions are split by age group, with 4-7 year olds starting at 10:30am and 8-12 year olds at 12:30pm. Tickets cost £14 for one child and one accompanying adult, with full day parking available at a reduced rate of £6.

Paul Emblow, manager of the Runway Visitor Park, said: "We're delighted to be welcoming more young people to experience our Flight Academy programme this February half term. Hundreds of children have already taken part since we launched the programme and it remains hugely popular."

The Runway Visitor Park also offers an observation deck, tours of retired aircraft including Concorde, a 360-degree flight simulator, café and outdoor play area.
