Major Altrincham road closed "for several days" following water main bursts

Emergency repairs are being carried out.

A major road through Altrincham has been shut to traffic "for several days" after two major water main bursts, causing significant disruption for motorists.

The A56 Dunham Road is temporarily closed between Bradgate Road and Charcoal Road, near Denzell Gardens, and is expected to remain shut for several days while emergency repairs are carried out.

United Utilities is responding to the incidents and engineers are working to repair the damaged water mains as quickly as possible.

Trafford Council has confirmed that diversions are in place, with motorists urged to follow signed diversion routes and local signage to navigate around the closure.

The timing of the closure is likely to cause considerable inconvenience for commuters and residents, with the A56 serving as a major route through the area.

United Utilities has urged anyone requiring customer support or further information to visit their website at www.unitedutilities.com or call 0345 672 3723.
