Police investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in the Bridgewater Canal earlier this week have said they believe there are no suspicious circumstances.

Officers and emergency response vehicles were called to the canal close to Seamon’s Moss Bridge at around 6am on Tuesday.

They found the body of a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Subsequent investigations have since concluded that there are no suspicious circumstances.

The woman’s family has been informed and a file has been passed to the coroner.

Her identity has not been disclosed.

GMP Trafford’s Detective Inspector Nicola Walton said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the woman’s family but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.”
