The Minor Injuries Unit at Altrincham Hospital has temporarily closed again – just a month after reopening for the first time since its Covid shutdown.

We reported last month that the unit had opened up again having been suspended to cope with extra demand during the coronavirus pandemic.

But Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) has now confirmed to Altrincham Today that, with effect from tomorrow, the unit will once again be closing in the light of “increased demand” at Wythenshawe Hospital.

A spokesperson for MFT said: “From 29th July at the latest, we will be temporarily closing the Minor Injuries Unit at Altrincham Hospital.

“This is so that we can use our staff and resources to support the increased demand for services being experienced on the Wythenshawe Hospital site.

“All outpatient services will continue to be provided from Altrincham Hospital.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support to the NHS at this particular time.”
